Tender description:  Provision of communications services for the promulgation of the final AI Advisory Body Report and AI Governance Events at the Summit of the Future
The UNOPS OICT Programme provides over 60 specialized Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services to its clients (UN OICT, UNGSC, OSET and UNSOS). With technology constantly evolving, technical resources are required to continue to brush up on their existing skills and learn new ones.
UNOPS has signed an agreement with the UN Digital Cooperation Fund (DCF) (administered by UNDP MPTFO) to implement project activities under this fund.
To support the implementation of the Secretary-General's Roadmap for Digital Cooperation, the DCF invests in action areas that are under-addressed and require cross-border or global collective action, international pooling of expertise, or the alignment of digital governance with human rights across jurisdictions. This includes the area of global cooperation on artificial intelligence. Within this action area, UNOPS supports the implementation of the Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence project, whose secretariat is hosted by the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology (OSET).
The multi-stakeholder High-level Advisory Body on AI (HLAB) is convened by the Secretary-General to undertake analysis and advance recommendations for the international governance of AI. In its seminal Interim Report: Governing AI for Humanity, the body calls for closer alignment between international norms and the development and deployment of AI. Currently, the HLAB is working on a final report providing further analysis of risks and recommendations on international AI governance.
For the launch of the upcoming final HLAB report, the Advisory Body and OSET seek to deploy a sophisticated communications strategy to maximize its visibility and reach. Additionally, the upcoming Summit of the Future will be a high-profile event where AI governance will be prominently featured.
