Description
The United Nations currently hosts its main web site www.un.org and other related web sites. Many of these web sites contain, transmit and maintain sensitive information that requires increased security settings. One of the security settings is the use of HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) which provide encryption and secure identification of the server. With these benefits, the protocol also requires digital certificates to be issued to each of the secured web sites. Digital certificates are also needed for other transactions types. The United Nations is therefore looking for a vendor whose root certificate is pre-installed by Microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931125) and other browser vendors (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/certs/included/). The vendor must be certified by WebTrust (http://www.webtrust.org/). The vendor is expected to provide the following services: • A facility for the UN to manage (issue, reissue, renew, revoke, track, etc.) all digital certificates issued to UN persons (member states, employees, consultants, interns, partners, etc.), web sites and services. This facility must include a 24/7 web based management user interface; • Digital certificates signed by a globally trusted root Certificate Authority. The following digital certificates may be needed by the United Nations: o Email certificates o Single domain/service SSL certificates o Multi domain SSL certificates o Wildcard Certificates o Code signing certificates • Support: Availability of email and telephone support Warranty: each digital certificate issued must be covered with a warranty (re-issuance, refund, damage protection, etc.) for its entire validity period.
