New clarification added: Does UNOPS know of any vehicle numbers that are likely to be deployed to a location?Dear Bidder,In short, no. However, across the UN, vehicle numbers are extremely high. If you take the case of UNMAS Mali there are around 128 units ranging from MRAPS to trucks to White fleet and generators. What UNOPS are trying to achieve is a new modular approach to match identified outputs, post consultation with mission/clients, UNOPS and the provider. We will likely need to identify a base formula for this and this is where the collated industry feedback is vital.Just as an example; large garage with four bays and teams of two in each bay working together, would be around 64 personnel hours per day. Average repair/service time, being say around 4 hours, means with teams on joint tasks we could cycle through 8 vehicles a day, 56 a week. If that output was to low then using the modular approach we could add to the facilities and/or the personnel to cater. Likewise if it became too much we could look to scale down overtime as oppose to just ending one process to start a smaller one, possibly losing one vendor and starting new with another. This provides the client, provider and UNOPS the flexibility to provide 'the right services, in the right place to suit changes in budgets', which in turn makes the project more sustainable for all.Kind regardsUNOPS
