Description
The United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) has requirements for the provision of installation, on-site training, repair, and maintenance services for medical equipment in the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and UNSOS medical facilities (clinics and hospitals). These services will be required in various locations in Somalia as authorized by UNSOS. The situation in Somalia is extremely hostile, unpredictable and dangerous with continuous fighting ongoing in many parts of the country. All prospective contractors are advised to familiarize themselves with the environment and to consider the situation carefully when developing the technical and financial proposal.
Due to uncertainties in the operational environment in Somalia, the Mission’s approach is to establish a transparent contractual pricing structure while ensuring flexibility as to the scale, scope, timing and location of works to be implemented during the entire period of the contract. The contract is therefore structured on the basis of fixed unit rates, Not-To Exceed (NTE) amount and Task Order/ Work Order basis.
This document will detail out all the requirements and specific required services. Based on these requirements and defined services, the contractor shall install, maintain, train, and repair the medical equipment in accordance with international standards, common engineering practices and enjoined Medical standards, and to the satisfaction of UNSOS.
UNSOS has established a network of medical facilities (Level I & II), acquired medical equipment and accessories from various suppliers. The equipment is deployed across the Six Sector hubs in area of operation (See 1.1.2 for sectors). The Contractor shall be responsible for the provision of installation, repair and maintenance services of medical equipments in medical facilities of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and UNSOS in accordance to common engineering and practices. Services sought shall be utilized “as and when required”. Part 2 of this document shall provide more details. In addition, the contractor will provide on-site technical training and mentoring to staff tasked with daily use of the said equipment.
