PLEASE INCLUDE THIS PAGE IN YOUR RESPONSE TO THIS EXPRESSION OF INTEREST United Nations Headquarters facilities in New York City is seeking qualified companies for the Indoor Environmental Quality Assurance (IEQA) Services in below categories at pre-determined intervals and/or "on-call" basis. The interested companies are requested to respond to this Expression of Interest document according to the instructions given in the following “Specific Requirements/Information” section. Please note that the respondents must possess the required licenses and certificates to conduct this type of business. (1) Indoor Air Quality and Water Testing: [ ] (Please check if interested) The vendor will conduct bi-annually (in Spring and Fall) measurements, analysis, assessment and reporting of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) of UNHQ facilities in New York. The random measurements will be taken on representative samples, including the HVAC air duct system, from UNHQ facilities, which comprise 16 buildings, and 3.2 million square feet, mostly located in New York City and in Long Island City. The exercise shall cover suspended particulates, CO2, CO, miscellaneous gases, hydrocarbons, formaldehydes, and outdoor air (for control purpose), dusts, bacteria, fungi; test shall include air-borne asbestos and other fibers, and ozone levels. Also, the drinking water in UNHQ facilities shall be tested bi-annually and evaluated for levels of coliform, metals, organic and inorganic compounds, and for physical characteristics such as alkalinity, hardness, etc in keeping with the required standards for drinking water. The vendor is expected to work within current guidelines and standards of the trade, including any required EPA and CDC licenses. (2) Asbestos Air Quality Monitoring: [ ] (Please check if interested) This vendor is to conduct “on call” or emergency basis, measurements, analysis, assessment, and reporting on the presence of air-borne asbestos fibers in any given location within the UNHQ facilities. The area of concern will be 16 buildings located mainly in New York City but one in Long Island City. The facilities cover an area of 3.2 million square feet. The vendor is expected to work within current guidelines and standards of the trade, including any required EPA and CDC licenses. (3) Anthrax Testing and Monitoring : [ ] (Please check if interested) The vendor is to design, implement, equip and manage a system of screening, testing, and reporting of Bacillus Anthraces (“Anthrax”) on a continuous basis (24/7) with respect to all UNHQ facilities in New York City and in Long Island City, where mail sorting and delivery services are conducted or destined from the outside. The vendor will put in place arrangements to contain and report (in conjunction with a designated UN representative) any positive results, using the most expedient manner, to the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), for further verification and investigation. The contractor shall comply with the required standards of practice and precautions in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of the United States.
