Description

 

Background

POLHN (www.polhn.org) is an online learning platform jointly operated by the World Health Organization and Pacific health ministries. POLHN aims to address the need of health professionals in the Pacific to access continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities and up-to-date health information.

Description of duties

In collaboration with a POLHN Secretariat based in the Division of Pacific Technical Support, WHO, the Instructional design specialist will designs and develops digital course to meet the compliance, regulatory and continuing education needs for Pacific health workers, ministries of health , licensing and regulatory boards

a. Prepare electronic courses using third party development tools (HTML, SCORMS and Adobe) based on existing content materials provided by WHO. The course content will be combination of power point presentations, word documents, PDF, image and printed documents. The courses will range from one to three hours in duration with an average of three to eight modules. Below are some of the course titles;

  1. Health Information System and Certification of Death
  2. Package of Essential Noncommunicable disease intervention for Primary health care in low resource setting (PEN)
  3. Tuberculosis for primary health care workers
  4. Disaster risk management for health and
  5. Water Safety Planning, and WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene.

b. Provide technical support to develop  and transform assessments into electronic delivery methods for each module, to test students on their knowledge of key course competencies;
c.  Ensures that the electronic course and assessment is of the highest level quality;
d.  Utilize adult learning models, implement multiple teaching and learning styles to maximize learner success;
e.  The courses should be mobile and desktop responsive with adjustable bandwidth. The course should be downloadable and ready to use both offline as well as online (Plug and Play)
f.   Work with WHO officers and course instructors to identify opportunities for improvement through a continuous cycle of evaluation and feedback;
g.  Provide technical assistance with uploading third party developed course on Moodle and WordPress
h.  Provide course instructors with instructional guide for the online course delivery to maximize the trainer competency; and
i.   Develop supporting materials, including course overview, expected number of hours per module, brief description of each module, brief description of core competencies gained, and links or electronic copies of relevant reading materials.

Duration of assignment/Working station

          The duration for of the assignment is from 5 to 30 September 2016. Working station will be flexible based on supplier’s preference.
