Description
The United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) hereby solicit Expression of Interest (EOI) from qualified Contractors for the Provision of Construction Site Management Training Services to UNMISS personnel either at the UNMISS Base in Torit, South Sudan. The resultant contract is expected to be for an initial period of one (1) year with an option to extend for an additional period of two (2) years of one (1) year each.
Introduction:
The objective of the Construction Site Management Training Services Course is to equip UNMISS personnel who supervise site works with theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to supervise construction projects safely, effectively and efficiently. The training course will enable participants to:
a). Learn the management, safety, gain skills in estimating and environmental aspects of construction management necessary for overall planning and control of construction projects.
b). Gain problem-solving skills to determine costs, establish schedules and apply time-value-of-money concepts to effectively evaluate alternatives.
c). Enhance and/or develop ability to interpret construction material properties and standards, and acquire perspectives on emerging issues in construction management.
Course Content:
The Construction Site Management Training Course will focus on the following key areas (among others):
a). Site Work/Activity Planning/ Scheduling (sequence of work)
b). Resources/Materials/Equipment Planning to meet work requirements
c). Control of Work/Monitoring & Supervision of work progress at site
d). Quality Control/Assessment/Assurance
e). Management and Maintenance of Project Materials and Equipment
f). Site Construction/Good Occupational Working Relationships at the site
g). Health, Safety, Risk Control Measures
h). Environmental Impact Assessment
i). Contractual Obligations/Responsibilities of the Site Manager
Description of General requirements:
1. The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), through its Integrated Mission Training Centre (IMTC), now searches for an internationally and / or nationally recognised, accredited and/or certified vendor to organize and conduct a Construction Management and Supervision training course for project managers and supervisors in the Engineering Section. The in-class course shall be provided for a maximum of 25 participants in one batch at Torit. The course duration shall be 5 (five) days.
2. The target audience for this programme are Mission personnel in the Engineering Section engaged in handling and supervising construction activities.
3. The Service Provider must use participatory training methodologies and Adult Learning concepts in the delivery of the programme to adequately benefit the trainees.
4. The Service Provider shall be responsible for all travel, accommodation and subsistence allowance arrangements for its training consultants.
5. The Service Provider shall be responsible for providing all training materials required in the training including but not limited to manuals and hand-outs to participants as hard copies.
