Description
The Capital Master Plan (CMP) is managing the historic renovation of the United Nations Headquarters (UNHQ) complex on First Avenue between 42nd and 48th Street in New York, NY USA. The renovation includes five (5) buildings, encompassing approximately 1,627,000 gross square feet (gsf) (151,153 m2) of the UNHQ. The new design will bring the UNHQ into compliance with building and fire safety codes and modern standards for furniture, security, energy efficiency, sustainability and accessibility. The scope of work outlined in this Expression of Interest is located within the UNHQ. As such, the location of the works is in a high security area. The North Lawn Conference Building is a two story, steel frame, approximately 192,000 square feet temporary conference facility built for use during the Capital Master Plan renovations and is now scheduled for demolition during the second quarter of 2015. It is anticipated that the scope will include: - dismantling, removal and demolition of the building - general construction - shut-off and cutback of mechanical, electrical, fire protection and other services The UN will be seeking innovative input from the contractor to maximize the extent of materials and equipment arising from the demolition which can be recycled, re-used, or otherwise offered for resale. Vendor submissions in respect of the following general requirements will be requested and assessed at a later (RFP) stage. Vendors will be expected to demonstrate: a. Experience with at least three comparable projects b. Local presence or representation (upon appointment) to enable prompt response to urgent project requirements. The United Nations is also seeking Expressions of Interest for the following two requirements related to the CMP and companies may respond to one or more of the EOIs. 1) Landscaping and restoration of the North Lawn at the United Nations Headquarters 2) Security enhancements at the 42nd and 48th Street entrances of the United Nations Headquarters
