Description

Tuberculosis continues to pose programmatic and clinical challenges across PICTs. Although the absolute number of MDR/RR TB cases is comparatively low, many cases, both drug resistant and drug susceptible, present substantial complexity, including paediatric TB, CNS involvement, TB in pregnancy, and TB with severe comorbidities. These challenges are amplified by geographical dispersion, limited in country specialist capacity, and variable access to diagnostics and medicines.

To address these needs efficiently and consistently, WPRO supports a regional tele- support mechanism that provides remote clinical expertise, ensures consistent adherence to WHO recommendations, and strengthens the quality and continuity of care delivered by national clinicians.
