Disposal of Residual Materials from Demolished/Dismantled built structures, as part of Phased Closure of designated UNIFIL Positions across the Area of Operations (AO)

1. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is initiating the phased closure of designated UNIFIL Positions across its Area of Operations (AO). As part of this process, UNIFIL will undertake the demolition and dismantling of existing structures, associated facilities, underground elements, and utilities, followed by their complete removal and environmentally compliant disposal. 2. The demolition and dismantling activities will generate substantial quantities of salvageable/recyclable materials that will be sold at UNIFIL HQ in Naqoura or at other UNIFIL locations as well as debris that must be disposed. UNIFIL seeks , where possible, to dispose of these materials through commercial sales to qualified buyers via a sales solicitation or to dispose non salvageable items in an environmentally responsible and economically viable manner. The disposal operations will involve a wide variety of debris and demolished materials generated from UNIFIL infrastructures, including but not limited to the Metallic Materials, Concrete and Masonry Materials, Timber and Wood Products, Prefabricated and Modular components and other miscellaneous materials. All works shall be executed in full compliance with applicable international standards, Lebanese laws and regulations, international and UN safety and environmental standards, and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System requirements. 3. Prospective buyers shall be responsible for: • Collection, loading, and transportation of purchased materials from UNIFIL sites and possibly transport to other UNIFIL sites. • Obtaining all necessary permits, licenses, and authorizations • Compliance with all applicable environmental and safety regulations • Proper recycling, processing, or disposal of acquired materials • Providing appropriate equipment, labor, and transportation resources 4. UNIFIL hereby invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified, experienced, and duly licensed waste management companies, recyclers, scrap dealers, and material traders. Interested firms shall demonstrate: Interested firms shall demonstrate proven technical expertise, adequate resources, availability of appropriate equipment, capability, and experience in handling, and processing construction and demolition waste.
