In the submission section, it requires to submit a statement that propose is registered with the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA). New clarification added: Vendors' Request for ClarificationWe kindly request your clarification regarding the following requirement stated in the tender document:“Bidders are required to submit documentary evidence that (1) the Manufacturer/Product proposed is registered with the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA), OR (2) submit a manufacturer’s commitment letter confirming their willingness to register the product.”With due respect, we would like to clarify that the product under this lot is LED High Bay Light (ECO Series fittings), which is an industrial electrical lighting product. Based on our understanding and standard regulatory practice in Ethiopia, EFDA primarily regulates food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, and related healthcare products, whereas electrical and lighting products do not normally fall under EFDA’s regulatory scope.Such electrical products are generally subject to compliance through electrical safety standards, conformity assessment, and international certifications (such as CE / IEC / CB), rather than EFDA registration.In addition, we would like to highlight that EFDA registration (if required exceptionally) typically takes 2–3 months, which may not be feasible within the tender validity and award timeline.In view of the above, we kindly request your guidance on the following points:Whether EFDA registration or a manufacturer’s commitment letter is mandatory for this electrical lighting product, orWhether international product certifications and conformity documentation would be considered sufficient for compliance under this lot.UNOPS Response:Kindly note that we don't need to have EFDA registration or a manufacturer’s commitment letter.
