Provision of money transfer services within Syria
Syria has been facing an unprecedented period of crisis and escalating violence. There is an increasing demand for emergency income-generating activities and restoration or stabilization of basic livelihoods, as well as the rehabilitation of community infrastructure and basic services in affected communities (i.e. communities affected by violence or receiving a high number of IDPs exceeding its absorption capacity). However, regional branches of both international and national banks were either closed in conflict areas or have suspended cash transactions due to connectivity issues with the Centre (ex. Homs, Raqqa, Deir Ezzor).
The UNDP-Syria office intends to contract one primary and one back up cash delivery (money transfer) service provider on Long Term Basis per governorate. UNDP Syria will sign and LTA initially for one year, with six months’ probation period. The LTA will be extendable for additional two years, subject to satisfactory performance.
