Description of the Assignment

• Develop an inception report and a presentation. The inception report should have the following information: (1) analytical framework (2) sample field work plan (3) methodology and data collection plan (4) implementation roadmap (5) national technical working group (TWG) terms of reference (6) key assessment principles, informed consent and code of conduct and (7) ethical protocol.
• Produce a comprehensive study report on the impact of galamsey on children’s well-being, looking into child protection, health, WASH, education and social and economic development issues. The report needs to be validated by the national TWG and UNICEF. Members of the TWG are to be confirmed. Key government agencies who will be engaged in this work includes the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Land and Natural Resources, Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Minerals Commission, GoldBod and the Environmental Protection Authority, among others.
• A policy brief for UNICEF and government/non-government partners with concrete actionable recommendations with costing and clear timeframe.
