Reference: Provision of Personal Protective Equipment UNODC Global Maritime Crime Programme is dedicated to enhancing maritime security and safety at sea. To achieve this goal, UNODC is providing technical assistance to maritime law enforcement and port security authorities throughout the region. This support is aimed at improving their ability to respond effectively to maritime incidents and to coordinate operations across multiple jurisdictions. The primary objective is to support maritime law enforcement agencies providing them with the required equipment to better operate their visit board search and seizure and maritime domain awareness operations. These tools are vital for strengthening maritime operations and enhancing security and for contributing to a safer maritime environment. To ensure the safety and effectiveness of personnel engaged in high-risk maritime and tactical operations, the thoughtful use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is important. These operations often expose officers to a range of physical, environmental, and ballistic threats, necessitating gear that offers both protection and operational functionality. Proper PPE enhances the survivability and performance of teams operating in hostile or unpredictable conditions, supporting mission success while minimizing risk. Equipping personnel with high-quality protective gear also aligns with duty-of-care obligations and international best practices for law enforcement and defense operations. Therefore, the procurement of personal protective equipment is essential for safeguarding lives and maintaining operational integrity in complex environments. As part of its initiatives, UNODC is interested in establishing a long-term, non-exclusive contract for the provision of Persona Protective Equipment (PPE).
