Description
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (hereinafter referred to as UNON), on behalf of United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Iraq Programme, seeks the interest of qualified contractors to participate in an upcoming tender solicitation for the Construction of social housing complex in Mosul, Ninawa governorate, Iraq. The proposed multi-story buildings project complements the integrated urban recovery projects and activities that UN-Habitat is currently implementing in the Ninewa Governorate. It aims to strengthen social stabilization and peace by targeting returnees and promoting durable solutions, in response to the housing crisis and the challenges posed by deteriorating climate conditions. UNON invites companies to express their interest for pre-qualification, by filling out the vendor response form as well as submitting the relevant pre-qualification documents via the email; njuguna1@un.org cc unon-rfx-procurement@un.org by 13 October 2025. The EOI submission should state the EOI reference number and title in the subject header. Scope of Work The project entails the construction of multi-story residential buildings comprising several apartments, with works covering civil, sanitary/plumbing, and electrical installations in line with the approved specifications. Civil Works The civil works will involve the construction of reinforced concrete foundations, columns, beams, walls, roofs, and staircases, followed by internal and external finishes such as plastering, painting, tiling, and flooring. Additional tasks will include the installation of doors and windows, construction of false ceilings, application of waterproofing treatments, and the creation of external features such as walkways and landscaped gardens. All debris generated during construction will be removed to ensure a clean and safe environment upon completion. Sanitary and Plumbing Works The sanitary and plumbing works will cover the installation of complete water distribution and sewage drainage systems, including toilet and kitchen fixtures. The scope will also cover stormwater drainage with gutters, as well as the establishment of a water station equipped with reservoirs and booster pumps to ensure adequate water supply. Electrical and Other Equipment Works The electrical and equipment works will include complete wiring and lighting installations, the provision of wall sockets, ceiling fans, and exhaust fans, and the installation of water heaters, distribution boards, and heating and cooling systems and installation of firefighting and fire alarm systems, complete with extinguishers and smoke detectors, to meet safety standards. The complete details of the requirement will be provided to potential bidders once this EOI has closed and the prequalification exercise has been completed. Important* Please note that this REOI is not an invitation for submission of tenders. Its sole purpose is to pre-qualify vendors who would be shortlisted to participate in the subsequent upcoming tender. The pre-qualification criteria is attached to this REOI. Submitting a reply to this REOI does not therefore automatically guarantee that your company will be considered for issuance of the solicitation documents. Only vendors who in the UN's sole discretion, are deemed eligible and qualified, upon completion of an objective evaluation of the EOI submissions may receive the final tender solicitation documents. UNON reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement of this EOI at any time during the EOI and/or solicitation process Specific Requirements/Information IMPORTANT: Applicants must express their interest for pre-qualification by completing the following two steps: a) Filling and submitting the Vendor Response Form in UNGM; and then, b) Submitting the relevant pre-qualification documents as per the evaluation criteria attached to this REOI, to njuguna1@un.org and cc unon-rfx-procurement@un.org by 13 October 2025. Other Information: The applicant shall note that the United Nations reserves the right to assess and verify all information provided by the applicant for the above criteria. All documents submitted by applicants for this REOI must be written in English. All applications, including the required documents, shall be submitted within the timeline stipulated in this REOI. Applications submitted after the REOI closing date will only be accepted at the discretion of UNON. Each applicant who meets the four (4) minimum requirements will be deemed to have the technical capacity and professional experience to carry out the works. Applicants who do not satisfy the four (4) pre-qualification criteria will be regarded as non-conforming and will not be invited to participate in the ensuing competitive bidding process. Applicants should note that UNON, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to request additional information or documentation if required. No payment will be made by UNON to applicants or any other entity for any costs, expenses, losses, or damages incurred or suffered by the applicant or any other entity arising out of, or in connection with, the preparation of the application.
