New clarification added: Dear Bidder,Thank you for your interest in the tender. Please find below the clarifications on your questions.Item 4.1 – Slit Lamp The requirement for a “precision-ground optical system” is intended to ensure that the slit lamp provides high-quality, sharp, and uniform illumination suitable for clinical use. This specification does not restrict the design to one specific optical manufacturing method. Equivalent optical technologies (e.g., precision-ground, molded optics with advanced multi-layer coatings, or other modern solutions) that demonstrably achieve the same level of image clarity, color fidelity, and diagnostic performance will also be considered compliant. The requirement is maintained as a precision optical lens system for uniform slit projection, with adjustable beam shape and alignment. Equivalent optical solutions that ensure the same uniformity and diagnostic performance will also be considered compliant.4.1.3 – IlluminatorThe slit lamp shall have an integrated LED or halogen light source, mounted beneath the optical axis to provide consistent illumination without obstruction. LED illumination is now preferred in most modern slit lamps because it ensures reliability, cost-effectiveness, clinical accuracy, and patient comfort, while halogen remains an acceptable alternative.4.1.5 – Patient Face Support ModuleThe requirement is for an adjustable chin rest and forehead support with vertical motion. A millimeter scale will not be required.4.1.6 – Tabletop with Power Button and Sliding DrawerThe slit lamp shall be supplied with a tabletop including integrated control panel with power switch and sliding drawer. Other functional designs will also be acceptable, provided they ensure ergonomic usability, stability, and storage options.4.1.7 – Motorized Table (Electric Drive)The table shall be height-adjustable with smooth electric drive mechanism, minimum vertical range of 150 mm, and load capacity of at least 40 kg. 4.1.13 – Filter SystemThe slit lamp shall include the following filters: blue (cobalt), red-free (green), neutral density, and heat-absorbing. A yellow barrier filter must be possible as an option. The proposed additions under 4.1.2.12–15 (interpupillary distance, illumination tilt, chassis with casters/lock, UPS availability) are not considered necessary to include as mandatory requirements. These features are either already standard in most modern slit lamps (e.g., interpupillary adjustment, illumination tilt) or relate to external accessories/infrastructure (e.g., UPS, mobile casters) rather than the core device itself. Therefore, the current specification remains sufficient to ensure ergonomic use, workflow efficiency, and clinical performance without introducing additional conditions that could restrict competition Answer (Item 4.2 – Direct Ophthalmoscope, 4 pcs):Answer (Item 4.2 – Direct Ophthalmoscope, 4 pcs):4.2.1 – Optical DesignRevised to: “Handheld device with a high-quality optical system designed to minimize reflections and provide a clear, undistorted fundus image.”4.2.2 – Illumination TypeUpdated to allow “Halogen or LED.” Both illumination types are clinically sufficient and ensure diagnostic quality.4.2.3 – Brightness ControlRevised to: “Microprocessor-controlled continuous brightness adjustment or manually controlled with potentiometer; other technical solutions will be acceptable.”4.2.4 – Lens RangeAdjusted to −35 D to +35 D.4.2.5 – Aperture SelectionOphthalmoscope shall provide small spot, large spot, slit, red-free filter, and concentric scale.4.2.6 – Polarization FilterClarified as: “Availability of a polarization filter to reduce reflections and enhance contrast.” Mechanism not prescribed.4.2.7 – Focus ControlReduced to “Fundus focusing.”4.2.8 – Power SourceUpdated to: “Rechargeable handle with lithium-ion battery, or replaceable batteries in the handle with auxiliary charger and two sets of batteries.”4.2.9 – Operating TimeThe requirement for mandatory ≥10 hours continuous use is removed, as this depends on chosen batteries and is unnecessarily restrictive.4.2.10 – Handle LengthThe proposed requirement for maximum handle length ≤135 mm is not accepted.4.2.11 – HousingThe requirement remains as: “Dustproof and robust casing for durability.” This applies to the device body. A portable carrying case is included as an accessory for safe transport and storage.4.2.12 – AccessoriesAccessories shall include a charger and a carrying case. A spare halogen lamp may be provided optionally.Thank you.Procurement team.

New clarification added: Dear UNOPS Procurement Team,We kindly request an extension of both the clarification period for the medical-technical requirements and the deadline for submission of proposals under the current tender RFQ/2025/59175.Given the scale and complexity of this procurement, additional time is required to thoroughly analyze the specifications and to prepare a comprehensive and compliant proposal. Extending the clarification period would allow us to address all technical aspects in detail, while an extension of the submission deadline would enable us to finalize a high-quality offer that fully meets UNOPS requirements. We respectfully request your consideration of this extension in order to ensure fair competition and high-quality participation from all potential bidders.Thank you very much for your kind attention to this request. We look forward to your favorable response. Clarification Regarding Subject: Clarification Regarding Ophthalmologist's workplace Dear Sir or Madam,I hope this email finds you well.We are writing to seek clarification regarding the specifications for Ophthalmologist's workplace mentioned [Tabletop type: Dual-platform sliding tabletop with independent movement and locking mechanism]. We would like to confirm whether the Tabletop type must be Dual-platform or if a single-platform is acceptable. We want to ensure that our proposal fully aligns with your requirements and standards. Your guidance on this matter will greatly assist us in providing an accurate and compliant bid./Dear Bidder,Thank you for your interest in the tender. Please find below the clarification in your question."The technical specification requires that the ophthalmologist’s workplace supports at least two diagnostic ophthalmic devices (e.g., slit lamp, autorefractor, fundus camera). For this reason, the specification has indicated a dual-platform sliding tabletop with independent movement and locking mechanism, which ensures:Simultaneous installation of two instruments,Smooth positioning and rotation between devices,Patient comfort and operational efficiency,Compliance with ergonomic and clinical workflow requirements. Therefore, a single-platform tabletop would not meet the stated requirement, unless it can demonstrably provide equivalent functionality for the installation and independent use of two instruments as described above. In summary, while a dual-platform tabletop remains the reference requirement, a single-platform system with equivalent technical solutions (e.g., dual-instrument sliding rail, motorized swivel mount, or integrated rotation system) may be accepted, provided it ensures the same level of safety, ergonomics, and workflow efficiency.Thank you.Procurement team.
