Description
1. Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance Office of Programme Planning, Finance and Budget (DMSPC - OPPFB) of the United Nations Treasury is seeking qualified financial institutions to participate in a competitive solicitation for the provision of comprehensive Global Custody services for its investments portfolio. 2. Portfolio investments are primarily managed internally by UN Treasury with over US$11 billion of assets under management as of December 2023. The invested portoflio is primarily denominated in USD, with a smaller proportion allocated to EUR and CHF denominated securities. The assets are primarily invested in high quality fixed income securities, with a small percentage in European public equities. UN Treasury may consider securities lending in the future and may hire an external manager for a portion of its portfolio. 3. Investment management objectives emphasize quality, safety and liquidity, with the primary objective of preservation of capital. 4. The global custody services being sought by UN Treasury include, but are not limited to, the safekeeping of the investment portfolio assets/securities, registration and identification of assets in the name of the United Nations (whenever and wherever feasible), trade settlement, income collection, data for cash management, tax reclamation, corporate action processing, maintenance of transaction records. 5. Details on the service requirements shall be provided to vendors in the solicitation document. Duration: The intended duration of the contract is an initial period of 5 years with 2 additional optional extensions of 5 years each (5+5+5) upon sole discretion of the UN.
