Provision of canteen and catering services to the UN City in Copenhagen
The UN in Copenhagen is soliciting proposals from duly qualified and certified companies for the provision of catering services to the new UN City premises located on Marmormolen 11, 2100 Copenhagen Ø (referred to as Campus 1).
The final move-in date for Campus 1 has yet to be determined but it is expected that the organizations will have moved in by the beginning of March 2013. Some 1,100 staff will be located in Campus 1 with a further extension of the building planned in 2014 that will bring the total number of staff up to approximately 1,600.
The number will vary daily due to staff travel commitments and visitors attending conferences and meetings. Contractors are to assume that approx. 500-550 persons daily would use the canteen.
The UN agencies have a diversified work force in terms of nationalities and religions. This therefore calls for diversity and flexibility of the contractor and an ability to propose as varied and acceptable a menu as possible, to include kosher, halal, vegetarian options, among others.
The serving staff must have very good communications skills in English. Other languages would be advantageous.
The successful Contractor will be required to demonstrate the ability to provide the following, but not limited to, activities relating to the canteen service delivery:
1. Quality controlled, varied and healthy menus prepared in accordance with industry recognized best practice.
2. Adherence to most recent dietary guidelines by the World Health Organization and a menu plan consistent with the WHO Dietary Guidelines (attached).
3. A kitchen environment consistent with industry recognized best practice for health and safety and food hygiene.
4. A flexible and friendly service with a customer orientated focus on the Clients’ staff and guests.
5. Creation of an agreeable and relaxed atmosphere that also provides for an efficient and smooth turnover of the guests in the canteen.
6. Ability to provide a selection of food where the use of organic products is predominant and a plan for sustainable and environmentally friend waste management.
7. Ensure good communication to staff and visitors on assigned website and/or notice boards in the canteen.
