Science Research Consultant for Storm Surge Modelling

Description of the Assignment: 

UNDP seeks to engage the services of a Science Research Consultant who shall primarily assist DOST-PAGASA in undertaking empirical and quantitative research work towards the development of tropical cyclone storm surge hazard and risk maps. Specifically, the Science Research Consultant shall perform the following activities:

• Conduct storm surge hazard and risk modelling, pre-processing of data, post-processing and analysis of outputs, and model validation

• Develop scripts, workflows, and algorithms in generating storm surge hazard and risk maps

• Provide assistance in the collection and consolidation of necessary data such as topography, bathymetry, and tropical cyclone post-damage surveys

• Develop process guidebook on the use of hazard and risk maps

• Coordinate with the SHIELD Support Unit, DOST-PAGASA, and other project partners in support to the fulfillment of above outputs

• Prepare manuscripts, technical reports, presentations, and other documents related to the project

• Prepare project-related correspondence and administrative documents as needed

• Participate in project-related internal and external meetings

• Provide technical assistance to DOST-PAGASA to ensure that the project deliverables are produced on the scheduled time

Period of assignment/services 264 person-days
