1. The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), on behalf of United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Iraq Programme, seeks the interest of qualified contractors to participate in upcoming tender solicitations for the rehabilitation of damaged houses in Al Salam, Muthanna and Oroba areas, Telafar City, Nineveh Governorate, Iraq. 1.1 The scope of work consists of civil, sanitary and electrical works; (i) Civil Works: include site preparation, concrete structural works for one or two floor damaged houses; from foundation to roof, including concrete-block walls and partitions. Cement and gypsum plastering, installation of doors and windows, painting (emulsion and oil-based), roof waterproofing. Most of the civil works is dealing with fire damages. (ii) Sanitary/Plumbing Works: water and drainage systems with water tanks, kitchen and bathroom facilities, septic tanks, etc. including connection to the public facilities. (iii) Electrical Works: complete electrical system power and lighting, inclusive of connection to the power grid. (iv) Materials and Labour: To support the country's economy and reduce the impact of long-haul transportation on the environment, construction materials will be sourced from the local market and from Iraqi vendors (unless unavailable, poor quality or not competitively priced). To support local livelihoods in the project area, the contractor is encouraged to recruit local unskilled labourers among unemployed residents from the targeted neighbourhood. Skilled labour and key technical staff are excluded from this requirement. 2. A compulsory site visit and pre-tendering conference shall be arranged and conducted for interested Contractors in order to acquaint all participants with the environment and scope of work and services required. The contractor shall perform mandatory site visit and pre-bid conference with the UNAMI/UN- Habitat project representatives, before submission of the bid in order to fully understand the conditions of the sites. After a complete mandatory site investigation, the vendor is requested to submit a quotation for the services according to the contract requirements. 3. For this purpose, UNAMI will undertake a competitive bidding exercise shortly, accordingly would issue a tender solicitation to those companies who would express their interest and provide initial relevant information as to their ability to fulfill UNAMI’s/UN-Habitat's requirement. In addition, the interested Companies will be requested to complete a UNGM Registration at Basic Level or above. 4. The complete details of the requirement will be issued to the potential bidders after this request for EOI is closed. UNAMI reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement of this EOI at any time during the EOI and/or solicitation process. Submitting a response to this EOI does not therefore automatically guarantee that your company will be considered for issuance of the solicitation documents. Only vendors who in the UN's sole discretion, are deemed eligible and qualified, upon completion of an objective evaluation of the EOI submissions may receive the final tender solicitation documents. 5. Please note that this request for EOI is not an invitation for submission of a tender/bid. Its sole purpose is to establish a roster of vendors for upcoming similar tender requirements. The rostered vendors will be eligible to participate in any subsequent related tender for a period of 3 months, after the effective date of establishment of the Roster. In addition, any company interested in participating in this EOI and subsequent tender, will be required to complete the UNGM Registration at Basic Level or above. 6. Please note on the following: • UNAMI/ UN-Habitat reserves the right in selecting the invitees for the competitive bidding based on substantial and proven records of performance in the subject field of activities and mere expressing an interest would not automatically warrant for RFQ/ITB/RFP document. • UNAMI/ UN-Habitat reserves the right to reject EOIs received after the above deadline.
