Critical care including COVID-19 management in Lao PDR
BACKGROUND
WHO has supported the MOH to improve clinical management on COVID-19 including developing clinical guideline and conducting trainings on COVID-19 clinical management and IPC. In response to the recent increase in COVID-19 severe and critical cases, and considering a sustainable capacity development on critical care in the country, WHO further supports strengthening of critical care in Lao PDR.
PURPOSE/SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE OF THE ACTIVITY
This consultancy, based in Vientiane Lao PDR, will assist WHO office to support Ministry of Health on the improvement of critical care including COVID-19 management in Lao PDR.
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES TO BE CARRIED OUT
- • Compile a situation analysis and baseline assessment on the current state of critical care in Lao PDR
- • Support MoH to develop 5-year strategic action plan on improving critical care in Lao PDR
- • Provide clinical advice to MoH and WHO for critical care of COVID-19
METHODS TO CARRY OUT THE ACTIVITY
- • On-site technical support in hospitals
- • Meetings with WHO country office and MoH
- • Producing educational materials
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION:
Essential:
- • First university degree is required
- • Registered nurse
EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
- • Minimum of 5 years of clinical work in the critical care
Preferred:
- • Working experience in COVID-19 clinical management
LANGUAGES
- • Fluency in English is essential

- • Communicating in a credible and effective way

- • Technical expertise
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- • Experience of working in multiple countries is highly appreciated.
- • Duration of contract is for 220 days (for period of 44 weeks) starting 1 March 2022
