BACKGROUND

With the rapid progress in the development of COVID-19 vaccines, Member States need careful planning to ensure that the infrastructure is in place and technical support are available to safely deliver COVID-19 vaccines.

Under the VIMST, support to countries are provided under the following pillars: Access and Availability; Deployment and Vaccination; Vaccine and Immunization Safety; and Information and Monitoring and Evaluation.

The short-term consultant is expected to provide support to the Access and Availability pillar in data gathering, compilation of reports and presentations, research on updates on vaccine, coordinate communication and follow-up action among the team members.

 

PURPOSE/SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE OF THE ACTIVITY

The short-term consultant will provide programmatic support to the EMT/RSS Team under the COVID-19 Vaccination Incident Management Support Team (VIMST).

 

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES TO BE CARRIED OUT

Under the supervision of Coordinator, EMT and Medical Officer, RSS, the contractual partner will provide support in the following areas:

Output/s

Output 1: Support in data gathering, compilation of reports and presentations, research on updates on vaccines.

Output 2: Provide programmatic support to the daily operations of Access and Availability pillar of VIMST.

Output 3: Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary by the Coordinator, EMT and Medical Officer, RSS

 

METHODS TO CARRY OUT THE ACTIVITY

The contractual partner will work with Coordinator, EMT and Medical Officer, RSS to carry out the outputs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION

Essential: Advanced level university (Masters level of above) in pharmaceutical sciences public health or relevant health-related field

Desirable: Post-graduate degree (master's level or higher) in public health

 

EXPERIENCE

  • • At least three years' relevant work experience in public health programme at national and/or international level.
  • • Work experience in WHO or other UN agencies, or international NGOs.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • • Effective communication skills
  • • Excellent knowledge on data collection and analyses, monitoring and evaluation
  • • Development of PowerPoint presentations
  • • Ability to work effectively and generate outputs in a timely manner

 

LANGUAGES

Written and spoken fluency in English is essential.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • • The contractor will work in close collaboration with DHS/EMT
  • • Duty station is at WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific (Manila, Philippines)
  • • Duration of contract is from 15 October 2021 until 31 March 2022
