Description
1.1 The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) intends to establish a long-term contract for the provision of ICAO/IATA and IMO DANGEROUS GOODS Certification Training to be delivered in English for United Nations (UN) staff both at various UN locations and on-line through the internet, and the award of ICAO/IATA DG compliant Training Certifications and IMO compliant Training Completion Certificates, on an “as required basis” for an initial period of three (3) years, with the option of the UN to extend the term of the contract for two (2) one-year periods each (3+1+1 years). 1.2 The complexity and volume of UN peacekeeping warehousing and logistics activities continuously grow and the safe handling of dangerous goods challenges UN Mission operations. A regular and updated Certification Training complying with ICAO/IATA and IMO Dangerous Goods (DG) standards is a critical professional requirement for those staff involved in warehousing and shipping of dangerous goods. 1.3 UNGSC has a consolidated experience in coordinating in-class delivery of the DG Certification Training for both its internal staff and staff from other UN Missions and is committed to continue meeting this UN global certification training requirement. 1.4 In view of possibly extended global travel restrictions and to meet UN Missions’ specific requirements, UNGSC intends to offer the DG Certification Training in two (2) alternative tutor-led training options: the usual on-site in-class course and the live on-line webinar [1] course that complies with the UN mandatory training requirements and applicable training sections of the latest editions of the following international Air and Sea Dangerous Goods Regulations: a) the ICAO Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air; b) the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR); c) the IMO - International Maritime Dangerous Goods IMDG Code (and Supplement). 1.5 The requested DG Certification training course will be proposed to UN personnel within the following IATA personnel categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 i.e. packers, shippers, freight forwarders, operators and ground handling agents, receiving and inspection and warehousing staff, involved in the packaging, documentation and handling of dangerous goods. 1.6 Upon successful completion of the DG Certification training course UN participants must be able to: • identify, handle and manage dangerous goods safely and professionally, aiming at avoiding damage and loss to both people and property; • prepare required documents for the warehousing and shipping operations by air and sea, in accordance with the updated ICAO/IATA and IMO Dangerous Goods Regulations. 1.7 The requested DG Certification training course, delivered either in class or on-line [2], must be addressed to a class of minimum 6 up to maximum of 15 UN participants. 1.8 Location where services are to be delivered: Online (throught the internet) and various UN locations (UNGSC, Brindisi and optional locations such as RSCE, Entebbe-Uganda; MINUSCA, Bangui - Central African Republic; MINUSMA, Bamako – Mali; UNIFIL, Tyre- Lebanon; UNVMC, Bogota – Columbia; UNSOS, Nairobi – Kenya and UNSOS, Mogadishu - Somalia
