Description:

Unitaid is seeking the external services of qualified individuals/institutes to assist in conducting a technical evaluation/assessment of applications for funding received under the UnitaidExplore pilot. The duties will entail but not limited to:

-The technical assessment of applications from 01-Apr to 09-Apr-2020, followed by a read-out meeting with the Unitaid focal point on or before 10-Apr. The technical assessment of a single application will take 1 day (maximum 2 days, subject to confirmation by Unitaid upon receiving such applications). The successful bidder would, therefore, be able to complete individually, 4 or more technical assessments of applications during this period.

-Additional days of work may be requested after 10-Apr-2020, in support of the work on UnitaidExplore by Unitaid.

Interested bidders are invited to submit a letter of motivation (background), a CV (including a list of assessments of a similar nature), together with a financial offer. Please refer to the "Document" section for detailed requirements and the instructions on how to complete a proposal submission.

Summary of requirements:

Timeline:

A kick-off meeting with Unitaid's focal point the week of 27-31 Mar, followed by the technical assessments of applications from 01-09 Apr by the Contractor and thereafter,  a read-out meeting with the Unitaid focal point on or before 10-Apr.

Essential experience and educational requirements:  

Advanced level university degree with at least 7-10 years of experience in one of these essential areas:

* Oxygen and oxygen-related technologies - Expertise in the production, technologies, and/or delivery of oxygen (e.g. oxygen concentrators, humidifiers, cylinders, tanks, central piping) or related parts (e.g. nasal cannula, catheter, tubing, face masks, head boxes, incubators, tents, dials, flowmeters, gauges, analyzers).

* Innovation assessment / due diligence - Demonstrable expertise with the assessment of innovations, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and/or the innovation landscape. Expertise in assessing the likelihood of success for innovations and the teams of innovators. Desirable experiences - Expertise in delivering oxygen therapy, especially for LMICs e.g., delivery, infrastructure support, systems set-up, etc. - Commercialization of medical technology - Product development - Disease-specific areas of expertise, especially in diseases treated by oxygen therapy - Global health
