United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) hereby invite qualified companies to submit sealed tenders as follows:

Consultancy Services in GIS/Topographic and archaeological Survey.

The overall scope of this assignment is to further improving the archaeological survey and the GIS platform for the archaeological site of Mes Aynak, located around 40 Km south-east of Kabul, in the Logar Province, Afghanistan.

To attain this objective, UNESCO is looking for a committed Contractor with specific experience in the field of archaeological survey and GIS platforms for collecting and managing detailed archaeological data.

Based on the results achieved during the I Phase of the Project, the specific objectives of this assignment are to: 1) complete the GIS for one of the archaeological units in Mes Aynak (so called site MA045); 2) conduct field surveys in order to improve the archaeological documentation in some prioritized archaeological units and assess the accuracy of the general map; 3) conduct workshops and training for the relevant Afghan officials/professionals in the field of archaeological survey and detailed GIS for archaeological sites/areas.

Conceptually, the work sequence can be broken down into four phases: A) Complete the GIS for the site MA045; B) Conduct an assessment of the general topography of the area; C) Improve the archaeological survey of 6 prioritized archaeological units; D) Prepare the GIS for the six additional prioritized archaeological units.

The overall assignment will cover a total period of 15 months.
