1. Description of Requirement

 

The United Nations Office at Geneva, Switzerland (UNOG), seeks Expressions of Interest (EOI) for a Request for Proposal (RFP) it intends to issue for the required services / goods described below.

 

Required services or goods are the following:

 

Consultancy services for the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS) for the Publishing Service, DCM, in preparation for 3rd party audit by an accreditation company and the subsequent attainment of ISO 14001: 2004 certification. 

 

 

 

Background

As part of system-wide efforts to implement the concept of sustainable publishing, the Publishing Service, DCM, UNOG is seeking to attain ISO 1400:2004 certification for its publishing operations.

 

In this regard, UNOG seeks to hire a consultant/ project manager to develop and implement an appropriate Environment Management System (EMS) for the printing and publishing operations as first the phase on the road to obtain ISO 14001: 2004 accredited certification.

 

Statement of work/TOR

The Terms of Reference for the project will include, but not be limited to:

 

1.   Develop the appropriate EMS for the operations of the service, i.e. assess and report on the environmental impact of our printing/publishing operations, and subsequently writing an appropriate gap analysis.

     

2         Make the appropriate recommendations (such as remedial action in work/procurement practices, or building alterations etc) which would be necessary for the Publishing Service to implement in order to achieve certification through a third party audit.

 

3         Draft EMS policy and procedure to enable the Service to remain compliant.

     

4   Provide appropriate in-house EMS training for selected staff in order to ensure compliance as well as continuous improvement.

 

5.  As part of the proposal the successful vendor will also be required to make a presentation to senior management and staff, to explain the :

a.   Implementation of an EMS and its impact on the organization.

b.   The merits of ISO 14001: 2004.

c.   Success criteria for ISO 14001: 2004.
