Assistant Natural Regeneration Specialist (International)

The consultant will be recruited by the UNDP Country Office for Zambia following the rules and regulations set out by the UN General Assembly.

The international consultant will receive direct technical supervision from the project implementation unit through the Project Manager. The consultant shall work cooperatively with the project implementation unit.

5. Tasks and responsibilities

The task for the International Consultant will be to:

1. Assess and analyse past, current and on-going Agro-forestry/Assisted Natural Regeneration initiatives in Serenje and Chitambo districts and propose measures for improvement.
2. Develop a strategy / mechanism of engaging VAG members on a “cash for work” program to implement ANR for restoring Miombo woodlands.
3. Develop guidelines for Agro forestry and ANR for participating VAGs.
4. Develop a training manual for Agro-forestry and ANR.
5. Conduct training of trainers to the district implementation team in AF and ANR.

6. Expected results

 The expected outcomes are:

1. Inception report
2. Report of the past, current and on-going AF and ANR practices

3.       A strategy / mechanism of engaging VAGs members on a “cash for work” program to implement ANR for restoring Miombo woodlands
