Description

NMPB is one of the responsible partners in implementing the GEF-UNDP-GoI project entitled ‘Mainstreaming Conservation and Sustainable Use of Medicinal Plant Diversity in Three Indian States’ at the national level. Various activities such as capacity building of the NMPB to meet the emerging challenges in medicinal and aromatic plants (MAP) sector, development of a national strategy for the MAP sector, activities related to prioritization of species for conservation and propagation are being carried out under the project. During the project’s National Project Steering Committee Meeting, NMPB had requested UNDP to commission the aforementioned study which will help to understand the specifics of supply and value chains of major species in each region and also help in defining the role of NMPB to bridge the gaps identified under the proposed study.
