Description
The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) has a requirement for the provision of customs clearance and related services for goods ordered from suppliers and contingent owned equipment (shipments) at the airports and seaports of entry , and freight forwarding, delivery of the shipments from ports of entry to UNISFA designated place of final destination or place of delivery within The Republic of Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda and Ethiopia or between these countries and Abyei, on an as and when required basis. The UNPD Regional Procurement Office (RPO), on behalf of UNISFA, hereby invites qualified contractors from all countries to submit their Expression of Interest for the Provision of Freight Forwarding Services,Customs Clearance and Related Services for UNISFA. Services required may include the followings: Transportation. The Contractor(s) shall provide door-to-door transportation of UNOE and COE cargo from point-of-origin to final destinations. This includes surface transport (rail and road), air, sea and waterway modes of transport, and sometimes will require multimodal transport. Loading and off loading on “as and when required” basis. Customs clearance. The Contractor(s) shall provide customs clearance and related services for goods ordered from suppliers, UNOE and COE at the airports, seaports and land points of entry/exit. Storage. The Contractor(s) will be required to provide secure storage facilities, including storage of refrigerator containers, indoor and open space. Loading and Offloading. The Contractor(s) shall provide the necessary Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and labour force required for loading, offloading, and packing at points of origin and destination. Packaging and Labelling. The Contractor(s) shall, on an “as and when required basis”, be responsible for packaging, labelling and marking of UN consignments in accordance with acceptable International standards (e.g IATA, IOM). Insurance. The Contractor (s)may be requested to provide insurance to all UN consignments. Dangerous Goods and other clearances. The Contractor(s) shall have qualified personnel to handle, pack, prepare the relevant dangerous goods certificates for all mode of transportation, label, mark, ship, and safely transport dangerous goods by any mode of transport the as designated in the Contract. The Contractor(s) shall be responsible for obtaining all additional clearances and document required by transiting Countries Authorities and for transporting UN consignment according to International and local rules and regulations. Security. The Contractor (s) will assume the sole responsibility for security of UN consignment in its custody, thus it is necessary for contractors to be able to provide, whenever required, well-secured areas that have defined boundaries, defined exits/entrances and are well lit for secure holding of UN cargo. Consolidation of cargo. The Contractor (s) may be required to consolidate consignments from various locations for onward delivery. At other times, the Contractor(s) may be required to deconsolidate consignments and deliver to different destinations. Cargo tracking and tracing system. The Contractor (s) shall have in place a web based electronic cargo “track & trace” system with capabilities to generate consignment movement status reports and with access for key UN Staff to monitor the movements.
