Description

ITC wants to contract a consulting firm, for six months, to develop and commercialize the Ninki Nanka Trail (NNT) as national Community Base Tourism in the Gambia with the view to attract high end tourism both on and off tourism season.

The objectives of the successful contractor are to:

  • To strengthen the capabilities of community members, guides, and service providers along the Ninki Nanka Trail through targeted training in safety, storytelling, service delivery, tour guiding, and experience design.
  • To validate, disseminate, and ensure implementation of the Ninki Nanka Trail Responsible Tourism Code of Conduct among tour operators, ground handlers, and other tourism stakeholders, encouraging fair practices and sustainable tourism behavior.
  • To assess, strengthen, and develop Community Based Tourism (CBT) destinations along the trail by introducing environmentally sustainable technologies and practices, supporting local associations, and developing tourism products that reflect community needs and values.
  • To establish robust governance, operational, and management structures for the Ninki Nanka Trail, including staffing, booking systems, monitoring tools, and benefit-sharing mechanisms to ensure efficiency, accountability, and local community inclusion.
  • To boost the promotion and visibility of the NNT through a comprehensive marketing strategy, refreshed branding, and engagement with both local and international tourism stakeholders, including tour operators and online platforms.
