Provision of Accommodation, Conferencing and Outdoor Training Facility for UNDSS SSAFE Project - UNDP/SOM/ITB/2016/001
The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) requires a training venue to conduct training for personnel who will be working in Somalia. The training will include but not be limited to the Safe and Secure Approaches in a Field Environment (SSAFE), Emergency Trauma Bag (ETB) training and other relevant training courses, which are designed to further promote and deliver safety and security training for personnel carrying out vital peace, development and humanitarian missions in Somalia.
The specifics of the courses which will be delivered are as follows:
- SSAFE is of four days duration and is conducted one to two times per month. Each course will have between 30 – 45 participants and the training will be delivered by five UN training staff, with twenty role players to support;
- SSAFE Refresher is of one day duration and is delivered once a month. It will have between 10 – 15 participants and will be delivered by three UN training staff
- ETB is of five days duration and delivery every three months. It will have between 10 – 15 participants and be delivered by two UN training staff, with five role players to support;
- There may also be the requirement for additional security and safety training modules and workshops, based on the needs of personnel in Somalia, and the shifting security situation.
The SSAFE training programme is designed to provide country and culturally specific security and safety guidance, utilizing a modular framework of key security topics, which have been selected and adapted based upon specific current operational requirements in Somalia. The training combines both theory and practical training, which will require both class/conference room/s and an outdoors area of varied terrain and topography.
