Description
United Nations owns, manages and operates a private satellite communications network of approximately 300 Satellite VSAT Remote terminals in a star Topology, with antenna sizes ranging from 2.4 to 16.4m. The network operates in a fully resilient configuration from two Teleports in Brindisi Italy and Valencia Spain having operational bandwidth of approximately 520 MHz on 3 different satellites over the Atlantic and Indian Ocean operating regions. As the current leassed satellite bandwidth in the C and Ku bands will expire in near future the organisation will be soliciting offers shortly to establish new umbrella agreements for the leasing of satellite bandwidth directly through the satellites owners. Brokerage and dealership arrangements will not be acceptable. Both UN's Teleports in Brindisi and Valencia must be geographically able to access all offered bandwidth in order to establish satellite links with remote UN Stations from either teleport. Satellite owners able to provide global and regional cost effective satellite bandwidth on C, KU and KA bands are requested to express their interests. A Request for Proposals will be launched for the provision of Satellite Bandwidth on C, KU and KA bands, interested vendors are encouraged to express their interest in this future solicitation.
