Description
The UNESCAP invites express of interest of the qualified and experienced vendors for the renovation of the marble cladding surface of the Secretariat Building located within the United Nations Complex in Bangkok, Thailand. The Secretariat Building consists of two multi-story office towers joined by a central lift core, which creates two block end walls and four central link walls either side of the core link corridors. The original cladding system for the premises was all composed of wet fixed marble until 1990 when the two block end walls were renovated and the wet fixed cladding system were replaced with a dry fixed system to match the newly constructed Conference Centre. The UNESCAP intends to replace the remaining wet fixed marble cladding areas with a new system, and repair of loose and damaged panels on the dry fixed end walls. The requirements will cosist of the following design and construction works: For the Wet Fixed area with an approximate space of 1,560 square metres: - removal of the existing wet fixed marble; - removal of the old and rusted steel angle supports at teach floor level; - temporary removal of existing link corridor louvers which obstruct the working area, and subsequent reinstallation; - cleaning, repair and removal of all old mortar to expose the main building structure; - application of a waterproofing system to the exposed main concrete structure; - supply and installation of a new marble cladding solution, to be proposed, to maintain the buildings general colour and aesthetics (look) of the existing building. For the Dry Fixed area with an approximate space of 2,470 square metres: - repair and replace, make safe for all loose, dislodged, or unsafe marble panels; - replace the missing marble panels, if any; - replace all cracked marble panels where the crack runs through the width or length of the marble panels. Full examination and evaluation reports on marble cladding, performed by UNESCAP consultants during 2010 and 2012, will be provided during the bidding exercise.
