Supply of one High temperature oven – ashing furnace, incl. installation and training, as per specifications

Dear Sir/ Madam, Further to questions received regarding RfQ 25902-2, please see the IAEA responses below: 1. Furnace concept We have tried building rectangular-shaped furnace muffles from quartz. They showed very limited lifetime as the design/geometry is rather complicated for a brittle material. Instead, we developed a concept based on a rectangular furnace chamber but with a cylindrical quartz insert. This basically consists of a one-end closed tube installed inside the furnace chamber. This concept is much more robust and has sufficient longevity at the desired chamber sizes. Please let us know if you consider this concept feasible”. IAEA Reply Cylindrical furnace not an option for us because at least 5 samples have to be put into the furnace in the same time and they have to be covered – “Inner surface of the ashing has to be designed to be resistant against the corrosive atmosphere” is enough! 2. Power supply Please define the power supply more closely w.r.t. the following: voltage, number of phases, frequency, neutral yes/no, ground yes/no. IAEA Reply Normal 230V 50 Hz as the usual in Europe – if the size of the furnace a limitation factor in this issue, please let us know. 3. Burn-off flame What is the purpose of the burn-off flame? The specification mentions inert gas as the furnace atmosphere. IAEA Reply A multipurpose use of the ashing furnace, the possibility is needed. Dear Sir/ Madam, Please see the additional clarification regarding RfQ 25902-2 for your consideration: Question: 1. “The system can be configured as a tube furnace? For example: Tube furnace with quartz glass tube, 100 mm diameter, heating zone ca. 520 mm, 1 zone or quartz glass tube, 150 diameter, heating zone 1000 mm, 3 zone. T max 1320 °C! IAEA Reply: Not – the normal shape is necessary, like a cupboard; Question: 2. Alternatively we can offer a protective gas chamber furnace with T max 1100 °C. Heat resistant gas-tight muffle made in Inconel 602 . IAEA Reply: We need 1100oC as a continuous operating temperature and volume at least 18 L - but the Inconel is not sufficient for those sample treatments which will be analyzed for impurities; Question: 3. Gas tight chamber furnace with quartz glass retort is not standard ; IAEA Reply: In the specifications document, fused quartz chamber was mentioned, not quartz glass retort. Dear Sir/ Madam, Regarding the second round RfQ 25902-2 for one high temperature oven, please see the following questions and answers: Question 1: • “ which materials shall be treated, I could only indicate 'one batch';” IAEA Reply Large variety of the materials will be treated, like ores, soil, vegetation, swipes, etc. Question 2: • “also, you indicate working Operating temperature min. 1100degr C, but on the second page controlled heating 1200 - 1300°degr C” IAEA Reply A minimum of 1200oC; In case you may have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me, I am looking forward to receiving a response from your company by the indicated closing date.
