The Information Services Branch (ISB) within the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is committed to operating high-quality digital information services on behalf of the global humanitarian community to provide access to essential information for effective humanitarian action.
Since 1996, OCHA has operated ReliefWeb, a leading information service for the global humanitarian community. ReliefWeb provides reliable disaster and crisis updates and analysis to humanitarians who need constant access to reliable information.
ReliefWeb collects updates and analysis in English, French and Spanish from more than 4,000 global information sources 24 hours a day. In 2013, ReliefWeb re-published 55,000 reports, of which 8,500 were from news and media sources.
OCHA ReliefWeb is looking for a well-established, independent newswire provider with continuous global coverage that can provide the following services:
Services:
- International text newswires of global events and analyses on issues related to conflict, disasters and other relevant issues in both English and French for republication on ReliefWeb
- Photographic images of global events on issues related to conflict, disasters and other relevant issues for republication on ReliefWeb
- Real-time, web-based and API access to newswires
- Real-time, web-based and API access to photographic images
- Re-publication license for the above
Volume:
- Unlimited web-based browsing access to text newswires in English and French
- 5 user accounts
- Re-publication license for up to 6,000 full-text articles per year
Re-publication license for up to 100 images per year
Contract Duration:
3 years with possibility to renew for 1+1 year.
Technical Evaluation Criteria:
Vendors must pass all of the following evaluation criteria for their bids to be considered:
Vendor offers international/global newswire service as an available product
Vendor offers text newswires in English and French
Vendor offers re-publication license
Vendor’s international/global product distributes 2,000 or more text articles per week (English)
Vendor’s international/global product distributes 500 or more text articles per week (French)
Vendor’s photographic imagery product distributes 5,000 images per week
Vendor adheres to principles of editorial independence
