Description
UN-DFS owns, manages and operates a private Satellite Communications Network of approximately 400 C and Ku band earth stations of 2.4 to 16.4 meters providing 900 carriers using 13 transponders on 4 satellites over the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean regions using an approximate capacity of 350 MHz. UN DFS for its Global Service Centre (GSC) located in Brindisi, Italy will launch a RFP for the acquisition of hardware and software system for the technical, administrative and financial monitoring and management of leased C & KU satellite bandwidth. The intention is to purchase a system which will manage and monitor all aspects of the lifecycle of satellite bandwidth purchase, allocation and use from the technical side of power levels, interference, modulation schemes and bandwidth to the administrative and financial side of lease management, bandwidth allocation, bandwidth provision costing and internal cost recovery billing This network is managed from a dual teleport in Brindisi, Italy and Valencia, Spain The intention is to initially install a system in the teleport site in Brindisi and in a second phase install a monitoring node in Valencia. The purchased system must therefore be suitable to equip both sites to monitor the satellite bandwidth in use and feed this data back to the administrative technical and financial software application hosted in Brindisi and backed up in Valencia. The full technical requirements and details will be provided with a formal solicitation document.
