Works on safe zone, fuel storage, security tower improvement and physical barriers and exit doors

United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) hereby invite qualified companies to submit sealed tenders as follows:

The proposed works to be contracted concentrate on a number of civil works to reinforce security of the premises.   The works to be carried out consist of:

a. Safe Zone: Internal secure space where staff can temporarily go in the event of a breach of its access control system/perimeter and reinforcement of the two upper office floors to establish secure areas in the event of a breach of the perimeter or other incident which require staff and visitors to shelter in place.  This includes reinforcing partition between two offices with solid walls, installation of reinforced doors with electronic locks and door-closing mechanism to lock down. Locks and door closers are connected to central points for push button lock-down simultaneously.

b. Fuel storage structure for emergency power generator:   special storage space should be established where drums of diesel are protected from exposure to direct sunlight and with specific and dedicated fire-fighting equipment.

c. Additional work on security towers to reinforce existing windows and doors

d. Physical barriers around the UNESCO offices to resist civil unrest/forced entry; install reinforced concrete barriers to be placed around the two exposed sides of the perimeter wall.  The distance between the blocks must prevent a vehicle from passing through and reaching the wall.

e. Emergency exit: replace the door behind the cafeteria on the ground level

f. Exit door: install an exit door on the back/side of the perimeter wall
