Assignment
The objective of the assignment is to provide technical assistance to the United Nations IPSAS Project Team to support timely and efficient implementation of IPSAS Organization-wide (at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, as well as Offices Away from Headquarters and field offices/missions located globally). The scope of the assignment relates to eight separate volumes of financial statements that are prepared to report the financial activities of these operations covering five volumes of financial statements over which the Secretary-General of the United Nations has direct purview; these comprise the financial statements contained in Volume I and Volume II, that cover the core activities of the United Nations (including the United Nations General Fund and the Peacekeeping/Political operations activities), as well as the financial statements of the International Trade Center (ITC), the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and the United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC). In addition, the approval of IPSAS adoption for the United Nations relates to the financial statements of UNODC, UNEP and UN-Habitat; the financial statements of these three organizations are prepared and certified by Executive Heads of these offices, but these entities apply the Financial Rules promulgated by the Secretary-General in accordance with the provisions of the Financial Regulations approved by the General Assembly; these three entities are also within scope of this assignment.
