Answers to inquiries
There are already 3 SMS and 1 USSD shortcode in existance, Are they the same in terms of flow/usage or different products altogether? Answers We have more short code and are looking forward to acquire more based on our programmes ‘ need. Basically each short code is for a specific application
Do we need to migrate the existing shortcodes too? If yes, who will be responsible for getting the new common shortcodes from operator (or we will use existing 3 different codes) : Answer; No you don’t need. UNICEF will acquire short code from UCC.
Is there any application currently being used to send SMS and USSD, If yes are we mandated to migrate/upgrade the existing system or we can create a fresh setup? ANSWER- Yes there are many applications currently using SMS and USSD. What is required from you is to provide aggregation service
We assumed it's a multi operator aggregation for SMS and USSD, In this case how can we differentiate the operator based on the Mobile number, If MNP not available then we can use mobile number series for operator identification. Request your views. ANSWER-We don’t trace mobile number. We are interested only on the content. I guess mobile end-users will send or request update to the MNOs (thru SMS or USSD), MNOs will forward information to the aggregator for further processing.
We assume the aggregator will send and receive SMS and USSD messages from rapidpro or some other software, So we will not do any business logic other than sending and receiving through API. Kindly confirm. ANSWER- Correct. No business logic is required. Your role will be to just provide SMS and USSD aggregation .
What is the expected traffic for SMS and USSD for now and projection for 1,2,5 years? ANSWER- Just as an estimate last year we spend more than 400K USD for our SMS and USSD services. Needs are growing.
