Description

UNICEF is launching the present consultancy to identify a research institution to: i) Diagnose the situation of FGM, including identifying a potential reference network, measurements of behaviour, beliefs, social expectations, and others in the 5 study areas: Kayes (Yelimane), Koulikoro (Kolokani) , Sikasso (Sikasso), Segou (Bla) and the District of Bamako (Communes 1 and VI); (ii) develop behaviour-change tools for use at the community, municipal, local, and/or regional levels to transform gender-based social norms for the abandonment of child marriage and FGM based on the results of a validated 2019 study on child marriage and on the study that is the subject of this consultancy;  (iii) develop and oversee deployment of a baseline survey towards FGM and child marriage.

This study will be conducted in the frame of the Spotlight Initiative Program, an initiative of the United Nations System and the European Union, in partnership with the government and civil society of Mali, aimed at contributing to the elimination of gender-based violence, harmful practices, and barriers to accessing reproductive services.
