For over two years, the Government of Japan has supported a UN Women regional programme in the Arab States and North Africa for the economic empowerment of refugees and women breadwinners in refugee and host communities. The programme has so far supported 10 community centres in three refugee camps and in non-camp settings in Egypt and Lebanon. In Jordan, Egypt, Iraq and Lebanon 29,500 families benefited from UN Women's "Economic Empowerment of Syrian Refugees" programme.
Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Programme Manager - with support from the Communications consultant, UN Women is procuring an animated story from Iraq or Egypt detailing the flight of women from Syria and the experiences in displacement – with a particular focus on the importance of livelihoods for building resilience. To support this UN Women will provide 4 testimonies from women and girl Syrian refugees currently displaced in Iraq and Jordan, detailing details of their flight from Syria, their lives in their current place of living, their needs and what assistance has supported them effectively. The deadline for final submission is May 30, 2016.
