Terms of Reference
1. Description of Requirement
The United Nations Office at Geneva, Switzerland (UNOG), seeks Expressions of Interest (EOI) for a Request for Proposal (RFP) it intends to issue for the required services / goods described below.
Required services or goods are the following:
Provision of translation, typing and editing services into Chinese of United Nations documents Services (3 years with the option of two 1-year extensions at the sole option of the UN)
The UNOG Division of Conference Management (DCM) seeks expression of interest from qualified and experienced companies for the provision of translation, typing and editing services into Chinese.
Expressions of interest are requested for translation into Chinese from Spanish, Russian, French and English of United Nations documentation, including parliamentary documentation, publications and reports, on a wide variety of subjects.
Expressions of interest are also requested for editing and proofreading in Chinese for the preparation and establishment of final edited texts for publication.
The United Nations' annual requirement for translation into Chinese and related typing services by a contractor is estimated at approximately 3 million words. The United Nations' annual requirement for editing and proofreading in Chinese by a contractor is estimated at approximately 2 million words.
United Nations specifications concerning the format and layout of typed translations must be strictly complied with. The United Nations editing and proofreading standards, policy and practice must be strictly complied with.
In order to be considered, interested companies should have:
Broad-based experience in translation and editing (at least 10 years).
Proven experience in translating and editing UN documents.
Capacity to produce quality documents in a timely manner.
