Description

Sheikhan District hosts a significant number of displaced persons with 1,995 IDP families and 29 refugee families living amongst host communities  in addition to IDP families accommodated inside Sheikhan, Isyan, Garmawa, and Mamrashan camps around the Sheikhan area. All population uses the same public facilities. Sheikhan hospital was built in 1971 and last rehabilitation took place in 2010. The hospital simply cannot meet the current demands as a result of the recent displaced population in the area. Refugees and IDPs, in addition to the host community, in the Sheikhan area have limited access to basic health services due to poor conditions of existing infrastructure and saturation point with increased number of persons seeking assistance.

The Project consists on a rehabilitation and construction of new department in Seihkhan Hospital to address the poor conditions of the existing infrastructure and saturation point with increased number of persons seeking assistance. The project consist of two part:

1. Construction of a working module on top of the existing roof which will move the Statistics/Admin Department from the ground floor to the top and frees up space to accommodate more medical rooms. The type of the new structure will be a steel frame and sandwich panels. The project also contains a connection to the ground level, finishing works, electrical work, and sanitary works. This will free up available space at the hospital to increase medical consultations.

2. Rehabilitation of the existing structure such as sanitary work, electrical work, finishing works and some furniture in the main hospital. The responsibility of the contractor is to provide materials, labor, equipment, machines, and construction.
