Purpose of the contract
Working closely with the Tuvalu Ministry of Health and the WHO Pacific Health Systems and Policy team, the consultant will provide knowledge and clinical skills of paediatrics to medical graduates who are currently undertaking a bridging program in Tuvalu prior to undertaking internship in Kiribati in 2018.
There are medical graduates who have recently returned from Cuba and are currently undertaking a bridging program at Princess Margaret Hospital in Funafuti Tuvalu prior to undertaking who are coming back to Tuvalu after internship in Kiribati in 2018.
The bridging programme has been prepared for their smooth transition from training abroad to undertaking internship in Kiribati, after which they will return to Tuvalu to undertake theoir Public Health Module, prior to being certified to practice as a general practitioner in Tuvalu. Since there is no paediatrician in Tuvalu, upon Tuvalu Ministry of Health's request, WHO would like to invite one paediatrician from 28 Nov to 12 Dec 2017 to mentor graduates under the bridging programme.

Mentoring in relation to providing paediatric medicine
In collaboration with the Tuvalu Ministry of Health and the WHO Pacific Health Systems and Policy team, the contractor will:
- Draft a workplan at the beginning of the assignment
- Submit a final evaluation report to be submitted within a week of completing the assignment

- Education required: Medical degree with additional relevant qualification/s in paediatrics
- Experience required: At least seven years of working experience, including international work experience in above areas. Experience working in one or more Pacific islands would be an asset.
- Language requirements: Written and spoken fluency in English is essential.
- Communicating in a credible and effective way;

- Fostering integration and teamwork
