Description
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) invites qualified Contractors to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the tender process for the Disposal of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB) in Southern African Development Community (SADC)for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Introduction: United Nations Office at Nairobi (hereinafter referred to as UNON) of P.O. Box 67578 Nairobi seeks to engage the services of a Contractor for the Disposal of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB) in Southern African Development Community (SADC) for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). This shall result into a Contract for a period of 5 years (3+1+1). The SADC member states who will require this disposal services are Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Project Objective is to have an environmentally Sound management of decommissioned PCB liquids and equipment. PCB and PCB containing equipment disposed of in an environmentally sound manner in accordance with the Stockholm Convention from above 12 countries with a mixture of in-country and overseas disposal services: The expected outputs to be achieved are: a) Training of utilities for collection, draining of transformers, and transport of PCB contaminated oil; b) 4,300t of PCB oil, PCB contaminated oil, and PCB equipment, stored at national facilities; c) At least 1,000 capacitors containing PCB oil identified and collected for export; and d) 500t of Askeral transformers, capacitors, and PCB contaminated oil (concentrations >2000ppm) exported for destruction at a dedicated facility. All EOI submissions should be sent via email, citing the EOI reference number and title in the subject line. UNON reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement of this EOI at any time during the EOI and/or solicitation process. Thus, submitting a reply to this REOI does not automatically guarantee your company will be considered for receipt of the solicitation when issued. Only Vendors which in UN's sole discrition are deemed eligible and qualified upon completion of an objective evaluation of their EOI submissions may receive the final tender solicitation documents.
