Setting up an electronic vault (“eVault”)
International Criminal Court (“ICC”) is seeking to set up an electronic vault (“eVault”) in order to secure permanent retention of electronic evidence. The eVault should maintain the digital preservation files of various evidence categories. The eVault project is conceptually defined as “precise storage with an interface”.
The eVault should include four capabilities. It should:
1. allow for ingestion of electronic evidence that needs to be preserved;
2. ensure digital preservation of evidence with systematic backups;
3. allow for capturing and management of contextual information associated with evidence containers;
4. ensure a full audit trail.
ICC has stringent information security requirements, the eVault will have to be implemented and managed behind ICC’s firewall, and cannot be deployed as a cloud solution..
