United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) on behalf of UN-Habitat hereby requests interested firms to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming competitive bidding exercise for the Provision of Sanitary Ware and Fittings and Training Supporting Assembly and Maintenance of the provided hardware to mobilised groups in Kalobeyei, Turkana County, Kenya. Background: The mandate of UN-Habitat derives from the Habitat Agenda, with the goals of supporting adequate shelter for all, and support sustainable human settlements development in an urbanizing world. In line with this mandate, UN-Habitat has been supporting member states including Kenya in developing well-planned and efficient human settlements, with adequate access to housing, infrastructure, and universal access to employment and basic services such as water, energy, and sanitation. UN-Habitat partnered with UNHCR and Turkana County Government in Kenya, to prepare an integrated spatial development framework including a spatial plan for Kalobeyei settlement that will promote sustainable livelihoods and climate resilient shelter. UN-Habitat is engaging in a second phase of the project designed to demonstrate the implementation of the framework, piloting sustainable urbanization strategies including shelter and sanitation. The shelter component is one of the keys to promote the alignment of humanitarian response with development priorities in the context of integrated refugee and host communities. The shelter design will include sustainable use of available resources, while promoting resilience to arid climate, flash floods and innovation in sanitation and building materials, considering a possible reproduction of suitable design solutions within a similar context. The details of the requirement shall be communicated in due course in the tender documents. Below is a brief description of the requirement: The UN seeks a qualified company that will provide the following: 1. Sustainable sanitary ware and fittings for limited use of water and that will support use of wastewater at the household level, compliant to UN-HABITAT sustainable shelter design; 2. Provision of hardware and fittings for two community bathrooms; 3.Training support in assembly and maintenance of the provided hardware to mobilized In this regard, UNON intends to contract a qualified firm for the subject requirement. Interested vendors may forward their Expressions of Interest (EOI) along with the signed vendor forms to pdnairobi@unon.org. All EOI submissions should be sent via email, citing the EOI reference number and title in the subject line. UNON reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement of this EOI at any time during the EOI and/or solicitation process. Thus, submitting a reply to this REOI does not automatically guarantee your company will be considered for receipt of the solicitation when issued. Only Vendors which in UN's sole discretion are deemed eligible and qualified upon completion of an objective evaluation of their EOI submissions may receive the final tender solicitation documents.
