RFP 16/008 Windows Server Operating System & Cloud/Client Server Application Development Support
UNFPA MIS currently services over a 136 countries throughout the world. The headquarters of operations is located in New York City, New York with the backup location in Copenhagen, Denmark. UNFPA uses a unified global Active Directory Structure to administer Headquarters office in New York City, NY USA and 7 regional and 4 sub-regional offices distributed throughout the globe.
Each regional and sub-regional is tied to the HQ site and is deployed either on physical hardware or VRTX units running virtual environments. Each regional and sub-regional is locally administered implementing RODC as the primary controller, with appropriate credential caching policies, groups, unique group policies and dedicated OU's.
At a minimum each regional or sub regional has 2 RODC's, WSUS, File Server, Print Server, AV Server, DHCP, and DNS. Regional and sub-regional file servers are linked to HQ using DFS for purposes of HA but not DR.
Within HQ, there are 88 servers with 28 marked as critical infrastructure that require constant uptime with minimal fixed maintenance windows. Beyond core infrastructure there are application specific server groupings such as Cognos environment (12 servers), teammate (2 servers) etc. that are also classified as critical infrastructure with tight uptime requirements.
In addition to HQ, Regional and Sub Regional Offices, there is an additional site within the domain that is located in Copenhagen, Denmark which serves its own business units and functions as a DR site for Active Directory and contains 26 servers.
On an as needed bases, UNFPA also configures and ships stand-alone domain environment to its country office locations.
