Description
In 2024, the United Nations (UN) Common Services in Kenya transitioned to the Common Back Office (CBO) to align its service provision for enhanced efficiency. As part of this transition, United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) was selected as the service provider for the provision of procurement services for common goods and services to several UN agencies in Kenya. Accordingly UNON invites suitable fully licensed and authorised insurance or brokerage firms to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming competitive bidding exercise for the provision of comprehensive commercial insurance coverage services for structures, property and possessions. The UNON The 146-acre United Nations Gigiri Complex currently accommodates over 3,500 staff members in over 67,000 square meters of built space is a highly secured facility with substantial public exposure. Various UN entities operate within the complex including common areas such as cafeterias, banks, travel agencies, a commissary, conference facilities, courier services, press (media) center and UN tours with UNON serving as the landlord. Additionally, valuable artwork donated by various artists and governments are housed within the complex. The comprehensive commercial insurance coverage including, terrorism, public liability and professional indemnity shall be for the following; 1. United Nations grounds and buildings 2. Contents within UNON, UNEP, UN-Habitat offices, and its listed affiliated organizations(other UN entities) 3. Portable and high-value equipment 4. Official motor vehicles UNON anticipates establishing a contract for an initial period of three (3) years, with an option to extend for an additional two periods of one (1) year each. The selected contractor will be responsible for providing full insurance coverage and assessing risk exposure within the UN Gigiri Complex, Nairobi, Kenya and other listed locations and ensuring maximum indemnity coverage in case of loss, damage, or claims. Additionally, the contractor will advise UNON on risk management and analysis to optimize both coverage and costs. Subsequent to the closing date of this EOI, UNON anticipates to issue a formal solicitation document to potential companies who have expressed interest to provide the goods and services in accordance with the requirements that will be fully specified in the solicitation document.
