Provision of Fire Fighting Services and Maintenance of Fire Fighting Equipment

The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) invites suitably qualified firms to submit their Expressions of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming competitive bidding exercise for the Provision of Fire Fighting Services and Maintenance of Fire Fighting Equipment at UNON Complex, Nairobi, Kenya. The UN Gigiri Complex encompasses about 1250,000 square meters, with 85,000 square meters dedicated to office space and the remainder allocated to conference facilities, security gatehouses, catering, recreation, and support facilities. Situated on 145 acres, it accommodates over 5,000 staff and contractors, managed by the Facilities Management and Transport Section (FMTS) of UNON, which oversees daily operations such as building and grounds management, utilities, and catering. Due to the global scope of UNON’s functions, 24/7 support of the installations that are critical for the normal functioning of the UN, like the fire fighting and fire suppression systems is essential 365 days a year. Ensuring staff and environmental safety is vital for the UNON's Data Centres, offices, and conference rooms. The Contractor must be available 24/7 for emergency maintenance and provide qualified technicians for regular equipment testing and servicing. The proposed scope of the contract will consist of three (3) areas as detailed below: a)Provision of routine firefighting equipment maintenance, b)Provision of corrective firefighting equipment maintenance and spare parts (if required), c)Provision of emergency response whenever there is equipment breakdown requiring technicians to carry out repairs beyond normal working hours. The intended outcome of the upcoming tender process is to award a contract for the services for an initial period of 3 years with the option to extend for two additional periods of 1 year each.
